What is Groupy?

Each day, Groupy features an unbeatable deal on great stuff to do, see, eat, or buy in your city. By guaranteeing businesses a minimum number of customers, we get group discounts you won't find anywhere else.

Is Groupy a New Zealand Business?

We sure are. We're passionate about local communities and getting people out and about doing cool things. You get a great deal, our businesses get great customers and we get to make it all happen.

Do I have to sign up a group of people I know to get the deal?

Nope of course not, there are enough subscribers out there to help tip the deal, but you'll probably want to invite people anyway, though - Groupy Voucher’s are fun to use with friends.

I like today's deal - how do I get it?

Just click "BUY NOW" before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people sign up, we'll charge your card and send you a link to print your Groupy Deal Voucher. If not enough people buy, then no one gets it and you won't be charged a cent, so invite your friends to make sure you get the deal!

What happens if the Groupy Deal doesn't reach its required minimum number of purchasers?

If not enough people sign up, then the Deal is cancelled, and you won't be charged. At that exact same time we'll be firing Vern in our Sales team. If Vern can't get an irresistible deal out of the awesome businesses we choose to deal with, then he's not worth the squillions we're paying him.

Do I need to use my Groupy Voucher the same day I buy it?

Heck no. Although some Groupy will have an expiration date, you'll never have to use them on the date of purchase.

I bought a Groupy Voucher - how do I use it?

Once you're charged, you'll receive an email with a link to sign in and print your Groupy Deal Voucher. The Voucher has redemption instructions and a map right on it so you can't go wrong.

Can I buy a Groupy Voucher as a gift for someone else?

Yes. We communicate with all the businesses that we work with that Groupy Voucher’s can be gifted, and unless the fine print specifically states otherwise, gift away! To have us send them the gift, select the gift option at the checkout.

If I don't use the full value of the Groupy Voucher in one visit, can I use the remainder later?

No. Unless otherwise stated, you do not receive store credit or cash back for whatever you don't use. If you're having trouble spending it, bring a friend or even just a random punter off the street. Groupy Voucher’s are made for sharing.

Can I combine my Groupy Voucher with other offers or specials?

No ... not unless the Groupy Deal specifically states otherwise.

Is Groupy safe?

Extremely. Your credit card number is transmitted by SSL directly to a secure electronic vault a DPS (the secure payment provider that Trade Me uses). At no time is your credit card information stored on our servers.

Can I return a Groupy Voucher?

We are fair and reasonable people, if you have been unable to redeem your voucher please refer to our refund policy to see how and when we can help you.

Do you ever remove comments from the discussion board?

Generally, no. We only remove comments when someone is making personal attacks or engaging in other inappropriate activities.

What if the business offering my Groupy Deal closes down?

If anything happens that makes it impossible for you to redeem your Groupy Deal, we'll make sure you get your money back. Please refer to our Refunds Policy for more information.

When will Groupy be in my city?

We offer a range of nationwide deals as well as deals for specific cities. We're growing fast and if you don't see deals relevant to you, let us know and we'll try and get some. If you'd like to help us start Groupy deals specific to your city, feel free to email us and we'll see what we can do.

What will you do with my email address?

Not too much. You'll receive our daily Groupy offering in your inbox, and occasional alerts relating to your purchases. We take your personal information very seriously – our focus is to use your e-mail to inform you of our great deals every day. Our Privacy Policy gives the full story – please take a look.

What will you do with my credit card and billing information?

This info is recorded via a Secure Socket Layer connection (SSL) and is fully encrypted. This and your other personal information is safe and secure. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

I have Groupy credit on my account but when I try to make a purchase its not subtracting the correct amount from the full price. Why is this?

Rules for spending credit are as follows:

A maximum of $20 credit can be used on any one purchase.

Also, a minimum of $1 must be changed to a credit card for any deal purchased using credit so if you had $15 of credit and you bought a deal costing $15, you would use $14 of credit and be charged $1 for the deal. We need to do this so that the payment process can be activated

Deals with a value of $10 or less are not able to have credit used to purchase them. We do this to stop people earning referral credit (when this scheme is active) for referring themselves by setting up fake accounts.
